I grew up in a small town in Nevada, and was lucky enough to dancing throughout most my childhood into the teens, to which I’m so thankful for. I took a break from dancing when I was in my twenties (outside of girl nights out & after a few drinks) Dancing beca

me something from way back when.. It wasn’t a present thing, almost as if I had grown out of it, like you do if you don’t incorporate it into a career.
Fast forward, boyfriend at the time (now husband) and I moved to Missoula, Montana in 2018 from Reno, Nevada.  I discovered Oula dance at the gym, which was 5 blocks from where I worked as an underwriter for attorney malpractice insurance, which I still do today.  It started as something to do on my lunch break and i instantly fell in love with Oula. Or back in love with dance all together you could say. The lunch hour Oula classes and instructors themselves (you know who you are;) and their constant energy into this beautiful thing of dancing & singing together, became my community. And I hold such a special place for them and those times in my heart. It helped me through so much, without ever having to really talk, but something so small, such as coming to a class became such a huge thing for me.
Afte 4 years I decided to get certified and start teaching-what better way to share the love, even while pregnant up to 8months. After my daughter was born, 6weeks, I was back at it. Only this time as a student again, Which I love just as much, since it’s a whole different experience. I was utterly surprised at how easy it was to jump back in, with the community and dances, as there are awkward the classics ;)
After 7 years in Missoula, we wanted to be closer to my husbands family, have support, and to eventually be able to purchase a home. Following my graduation from University of Montana, in 2025 we moved to Billings, Montana .  Prior to our move, i researched & made sure where and what times Oula classes were, as this is my grounding, my anchor, good for my mental health, and where I’d find my community again.
I now teach on Wednesday nights (& soon Friday Lunch hour-hey!) at Jenna’s lovely Studio Soul and couldn’t be happier.
